Craziness

Craziness! That is the only word I can think to describes our lives right now. The movers are coming bright and early tomorrow morning and then Jiggy leaves for London on Wednesday! I feel like we still need about two weeks to prepare. Even though I am not usually a list maker, I have a very long one right now. Every time I cross one item off (yes, I literally cross it off...it feels so good), I add another. YIKES! I still cannot believe that we are moving on London.

I want to give a shout out to one of Jiggy's best friends, Peter. He is in town visiting us from Chicago and we have been putting him to work (he is a great paper shredder if anyone is in the market!). I am not so sure he is ever going to want to visit us again after this weekend but we have enjoyed having him here.

Ok, I will update later. Wish us luck on the move tomorrow!

Happy Birthday Jiggy

Yesterday, Jiggy celebrated his 34th birthday! Yesterday was not only Jiggy's birthday but the 2 week mark for our big move (Well, Jiggy is leaving on the 28th but I am probably going to be in states a little longer to spend time with my parents and grandparents). Depsite everything that we need to do before our move, we escaped to Chateau Elan, a resort and winery outside of Atlanta. Jiggy is here for a work conference so I decided to tag along and be lazy. After carpooling with some of Jiggy's co-workers, we arrived yesterday afternoon. Jiggy rushed off to a meeting while I hit the gym. I was excited about the advertised "resistance pool" but soon discovered that I could outswim the resistance when I kept ramming my head into the front of the pool. Last night we attended a reception and then went to dinner at an Irish pub. I am heading out for a run shortly and then we have a reception and dinner tonight. I do feel a little guilty being here due to the very long list of things that we need to do before moving to London. It is crazy to think that we only have 14 days (and counting) to move our lives half way across the world. YIKES. Let the craziness begin.

Househunting Trip

Our househunting trip was a success! I have to admit that after the first day of househunting we were very discouraged and having some serious doubts about this move. Everything we looked at was small, outdated, and extremely expensive. Things started looking up on the second day when our property manager took us to Hampstead where we found a great flat. Don't get me wrong, our flat is still very small (less than 900 sq ft.) and expensive, but it has some great qualities. It is a newly refurbished 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom (barely) with a beautiful conservatory (sunroom) and private garden. We even have a water feature! The commute for Jiggy is a short 30 minutes on the Northern line of the tube. We are right across the street from the Heath, a large wooded area with walking trails, open green space, lakes, etc. Now that we have place to live, we expect all of you to start planning your trips to come and visit....do not disappoint us.

Since we were busy househunting and taking care of other essentails items, I am disappointed to say that we really did not have any time to see any of the famous London sights (but we will have plenty of time for that later). I did manage a few long runs in Hyde Park (which was right across from our hotel) and we were able to enjoy some great evenings out. London is beautiful city with immense history. I know that our lives there will be very differnent but we are excited to experience it all.
